Get Crafty at The Phoenix Rally!
Professional craft teacher Pam Rider, will express her love of the Southwest at the Phoenix Rally with instruction in two unique crafts: a Bear Claw Paper Quilt and a Zuni Fetish. Guests will be divided into two groups, each doing one of the crafts, and then they will switch to do the second craft. All participants must bring their own scrapbook paper, (3 sheets – 1 solid color, 1 overall print and 1 small print), scissors, glue stick, and pencil. Patterns large samples, additional supplies, and directions will be provided.
Class 1: March 22 from 10-11:30 a.m.
Class 2: March 23 from 10-11:30 a.m.
Class 3: March 24 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Calling all Blanketeers
We are delighted to announce that Good Sam will partner with Project Linus for a Blanket Drive at all three 2012 Rallies. Project Linus is a nationwide non-profit organization that provides blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug!
Good Sam Rally guests can get involved by knitting, crocheting, quilting blankets for donation and bringing them to the Rally. Children and new crafters can participate also by making no-sew fleece blankets.

In an ongoing effort to thank our host community, Rally guests were invited to participate in our third annual Volunteer Day on July 12. This year The Rally adopted Redmond-Sisters Hospice, providing compassionate end –of- life care to the Central Oregon community since 1981. Participating Rally guests worked to beautify the hospice grounds and some designated patient residences. It was a great day had by all!

Good times at the July 2011 Good Sam Rally in Redmond, Oregon. On July 17, Rally-goers broke the world record for the Most Simultaneous High-Fives with 1,798 slapped hands. Redmond Mayor George Endicott and Redmond Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Eric Sande witnessed the event, which has been submitted to Guinness for world record confirmation.

The Rally Gives Back
The Rally’s third annual Volunteer Day to give back to our host community, will be Tuesday, July 12, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This year we have adopted Redmond-Sisters Hospice, providing compassionate end-of-life care to the Central Oregon area since 1981.
Participating Rally guests will be working to beautify the hospice grounds and time permitting, some designated patient residences. In exchange for guest participation, the Rally will provide one night of free dry camping on July 11, as well as transportation and lunch on actual Rally project day. Rally guests who wish to participate may sign up online HERE.

Visit Dogs for the Deaf on Your Way to The Rally!
DFD will be open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10 for guests on their way to the Rally. DFD will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. during the rest of July. All tours take approximately one hour and will begin promptly at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. A limited number of free dry camping spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to anyone who wants to spend the night at the facility.
Dogs for the Deaf and the Good Sam Club have been working together for 30 years. Good Sam chapters and members have generously supported the special work of this organization – rescuing dogs from shelters and training them to help people. In addition to training Hearing Dogs, DFD also trains dogs to help children with autism and people who suffer from trauma, stroke, panic/anxiety attacks, depression, arthritis, etc. DFD places these trained dogs free of charge with applicants nationwide.
Thanks to the commitment of Good Sam chapter members, thousands of unwanted dogs who would have been euthanized have been saved by DFD and have gone on to live full lives of love and service.
