BOOK DISCUSSION

The classic, To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, will be presented on Thrusday, March 22 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Fran Wendtland, branch manager of the Goodyear Branch, Maricopa County Library District, will lead the discussion.

CRAFT CLASSES

Artist and professional craft instructor, Pam Rider, demonstrates her love of the Southwest with instruction in two unique Southwest crafts: a Bear Claw Paper Quilt and a Zuni Fetish. Patterns, large samples, directions, and additional supplies will be provided. All participants must bring their own scrapbook paper (3 sheets – 1 solid color, 1 overall print, and 1 small print. Cost is $6 per person. Class size is limited. All participants must preregister at the Optional Activities Desk in the Registration and Information Center.

DOG ADOPTION DAY

Open your heart and offer a home to a new canine friend on Dog Adoption Day, Saturday, March 24, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., courtesy of the Arizona Humane Society. All applicants must be at least 18 years old with a verifiable address, and current photo identification. Puppies (up to 9 months) will be $150. Dogs older than 9 months will be $110. Cost includes first vaccinations, surgical sterilization, identification tag, follow-up exam, leash and collar. Please note: Only dogs will be available for adoption.

DOG SHOW

The ninth Annual Rally Dog Show will be held on Saturday, March 24 at the Day Stage. The Rally’s Inaugural Dog Parade will commence immediately following the Dog Show at approximately 11:45 a.m.

DISABLED/PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED

Parking for disabled or physically challenged individuals has been arranged as close as possible to all activity centers for easy access. Golf carts will be used to assist handicapped guests, and will be identified by the appropriate signage. Golf carts will roam the exhibit areas and will operate during the same hours that the trams run.

ELECTRIC SERVICE

Generator-powered 30-amp electricity will be turned on at 8 a.m. on the first date purchased. Electricity will be shut off at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012.

ENTERTAINMENT

Nightly entertainment begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Jimmy Bryan Grandstands located on the front stretch. Open seating begins at 6 p.m. and announcements start at 6:30 p.m. We encourage all of our physically challenged guests requiring wheelchairs or scooters, to drive their own tow vehicles through the tunnel for close-in parking at the entertainment venue.

EMAIL AND ONLINE SERVICES

Guests attending the Rally have the free use of computers for online access in the CyberLounge. The CyberLounge is located in the Media Center and will be available during regular exhibit hours only. Guests are gently reminded to keep their online time to a minimum so that other guests may use this service.

Please note that extended stay will not be available after The 2012 Good Sam Rally. Please check your Trailer Life or Woodall’s directories for campgrounds in the area.

FITNESS

Morning walking sessions will be held on Thursday, March 22, Friday, March, 23, and Saturday, March 24 from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m., with Lisa Pozzoni. Lisa is a fully accredited fitness trainer, as well as a certified Fitness Trainer and ChiRunning and ChiWalking instructor. In addition to the morning walks, Lisa will conduct two introductory sessions to ChiWalking on March 22 and March 23 from 11 a.m.-noon. Check program listing for meeting location.

FOOD SERVICES

Concession stands will be located throughout the infield grounds. Please note that the operation of all concessions is determined and controlled by the Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), not The Good Sam Rally.

GENERATOR USAGE:

Generator use in general parking areas is restricted to between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

GOLF CARTS

A limited number of authorized golf carts are available for rent through Hale Expo Services, in the Media Center, on a first-come, first-served basis. This bank of carts is primarily reserved for those guests with mobility issues.

Transportation for guests registered in handicapped parking areas

Golf cart transportation will be provided for those guests who have registered for the handicapped parking area. The Good Sam Rally’s golf cart service will transport those guests parked in the accessible parking areas to and from their RVs to all Good Sam Rally activity centers.

Handicapped guests who choose to park in standard parking lots may use The Good Sam Rally golf cart service to travel to and from the tram transfer stations only. Accessible transportation to and from the standard parking areas is not available.

HONEY WAGON

Honey wagon service will be available for an additional fee. Please check back for further information.

RALLY MERCHANDISE AND SOUVENIRS

Apparel with the official Good Sam Rally logo is available during the Good Sam Rally from Sports Image Apparel of Indiana, the only licensed provider for Good Sam Rally clothing and souvenirs. The Sports Image apparel trailer, located in front of the Registration Tent in the infield, will open prior to the opening of the exhibit areas.

RALLY IDENTIFICATION:

All Good Sam Rally guests are required to wear badges for entry into all Good Sam Rally activities.

RALLY INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION CENTER

The Rally Information and Registration Center will be located in the infield of Phoenix International Raceway. Hours are:

RALLY OFFICE

The Rally office is located in the Media Center.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES

A non-denominational church service will be held at the Day Stage from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

SECURITY

24-hour security will be provided in all parking lots. You must display your Good Sam Rally tow vehicle rearview mirror card at all times to enter the lots. Security will be strictly enforced for your safety, so please carry your Good Sam Rally identification with you at all times. For the safety of all Good Sam Rally guests, please observe the directions of security personnel at Good Sam Rally checkpoints and on the Good Sam Rally grounds.

SEMINARS

The Daily Schedule in the Good Sam Rally program will list the times and locations for all the seminars scheduled Thursday through Sunday. When possible, seminars will be repeated for the convenience of those who have scheduled other Good Sam Rally activities.

SERVICE ARRANGEMENTS

RV manufacturers, aftermarket product manufacturers and suppliers exhibiting at The Good Sam Rally have been invited to provide emergency service performed by trained personnel for Good Sam Rally guests. Since space is limited, service and installation vehicles will be dispatched into the RV parking areas to perform the work. Good Sam Rally guests needing such emergency service must contact the appropriate company at their exhibit booths and/or at the servicing company’s display area. Service arrangements can be made when the exhibit areas open. Financial arrangements for the payment of service work are the mutual responsibility of the servicing company and the RV owner and are not the responsibility of the Good Sam Rally.

Shuttle service will pick up/drop off at designated stops on the following schedule:

TOURS (OPTIONAL)

Optional guided bus tours will take Good Sam Rally guests to attractions within the host city and outlying areas. Please check with the Optional Activities Desk in the Registration/Information Center for availability. Tour buses will depart and return to the West side of the Gate 3 ticket office.

TRASH REMOVAL

Trash removal will begin on Tuesday, March 20. All trash must be tied securely in plastic sacks and placed in front of your RV prior to 8:00 a.m. on pickup day.
Please do not leave bags of trash at your site on Monday, March 26, prior to departure.

VETERANS’ SALUTE

On Sunday, March 25 at 11 a.m., all veterans are invited to participate in the longstanding military tradition of “Pass and Review. All guests are encouraged to wear any part of their uniform that still fits. A reception will follow the procession.

VINTAGE RV DISPLAY

RV historian David Woodworth will have a camping display onsite of a 1931 Roadster pulling a trailer, from March 22 through March 25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The factory-made travel trailer on display was built by the Covered Wagon Company in Detroit, Michigan, the first company to build travel trailers.
